Hi! I’m Krista

M.A. Candidate, University of Georgia

I’m a gerontologist and therapist dedicated to helping adults navigate some of life’s most emotionally challenging experiences—particularly grief, midlife transitions, caregiving, chronic pain, and end-of-life issues. Whether you’re 45 or 85, I am here to offer a compassionate space where your experiences are honored without judgment.

My Story

I returned to school at 53 after experiencing the tragic loss of my child and a late-in-life divorce, all while managing my own chronic illness. Therapy saved my life, and that healing journey ignited a professional calling. I earned my Gerontology certification from the University of Georgia and am now in the final year of my master’s in social work at UGA.

My commitment to trauma-informed care runs deep. I pursued advanced studies in generational and war trauma in Northern Ireland, exploring how pain is passed down through families and communities across generations. I also hold an educational certification from the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Substance Use Disorders, equipping me to support clients and families navigating addiction alongside aging, grief, and mental health challenges.

I work with clients experiencing:

  • Anxiety
  • Caregiver Stress and Burnout
  • Chronic Pain Management
  • Depression
  • End-of-Life Issues
  • Grief and Bereavement
  • Life Transitions
  • Loneliness
  • Mid-life Mental Health
  • Substance Use Issues
  • Trauma
  • Women’s Mental Health

My Approach

My counseling style is warm, casual, and collaborative. I show up authentically and value genuine connection. I integrate the latest evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs.

While every person’s story is unique, my own lived experience allows me to sit with clients in a way that combines professional training with genuine understanding. I know what it feels like to be a middle-aged adult caught between caring for aging parents and raising children. I know what it feels like to face loss after loss and wonder if you will ever feel whole again. And I know—deep in my bones—that healing is possible, even when it feels impossible.

Together, we’ll process difficult emotions, develop practical coping strategies, strengthen your resilience, and help you reconnect with yourself and the life you envision.

Seeking support is a courageous step. You don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone. It would be an honor to walk alongside you as you heal, grow, and move toward the future you deserve.

A Little About Me Outside the Office

When I’m not in sessions, you’ll likely find me pursuing the things that fill my cup and keep me curious. I am an avid open water diver—there is something profoundly peaceful and equally exhilarating about being beneath the surface. I also love to travel whenever I can, exploring new places and immersing myself in different cultures.

At home, you’ll find me tending to my flowers while listening to music or exploring our great community. I practice yoga to stay connected to my body and breath, and I never underestimate the power of a good laugh—humor is one of my favorite ways to find lightness, even in heavy times. Most of all, I treasure time with friends, the people who remind me that we are not meant to walk this life alone.

These are the things that restore me, and they are a reminder that joy and grief can coexist—that we can carry our losses and still find moments of beauty, connection, and peace. I bring that same understanding into my work with you.
