Group Therapy at Sage Counseling and Wellness

Some things are easier to carry when you're not the only one carrying them.

Our groups bring a small number of people together, with a therapist guiding the room, to work through something specific, on purpose, together. Not a support forum. Not a lecture. A real, closed space to be known.

Why choose a group?

Individual therapy is one kind of room. Group is another. Some things only start to loosen when another person nods and says, me too.

A few reasons clients tell us group ended up being exactly what they needed.

  • You’re not explaining from scratch.

Everyone in the room already has some version of the context. That means less time spent justifying, more time spent working.

  • It costs less than it feels like

Group sessions run at a lower rate than individual therapy, which makes consistent, ongoing support more sustainable.

  • Practice happens in real time

Whatever you’re working on, whether it’s honesty, boundaries, or simply staying in the room, you get to try it with people, not just talk about it.

Current groups

Both groups are forming now. Space is limited to keep the room intimate.

Substance Use & Recovery Group

A closed group for adults navigating early recovery or ongoing sobriety, built around honest conversation, accountability, and the parts of recovery that don’t show up in a checklist, things like relationships, shame, identity, and staying the course after the initial motivation fades.

Format: In-person

Facilitators: To be announced

Schedule: To be finalized

Midlife Women’s Group

A group for women navigating the identity shifts of midlife, changing bodies, changing relationships, kids growing up or leaving, aging parents, and the quiet question of who you’re becoming next. Room to be witnessed by women in the same season.

Format: In-person & virtual options

Facilitator: To be announced

Schedule: To be finalized

How joining works

Group therapy is a commitment to the other members, so we take the fit seriously.

1. Reach out

Let us know which group you’re interested in and a little about what brings you to it.

2. Brief screening call

A short conversation with the facilitator to make sure the group is a good fit in both directions.

3. Join the group

Once the group is ready to start, you’ll get the confirmed schedule, format, and first-session details.

Questions

Is what I share in group confidential?

Yes. Every member agrees to confidentiality as a condition of joining, the same as in individual therapy. Your facilitator will walk through exactly what that means, and its limits, before your first session.

Do I need to also be in individual therapy to join a group?

Not necessarily, though for some groups it’s recommended alongside individual work. This will be discussed on your screening call based on the specific group and where you are.

What if the virtual option is a better fit for me than in-person, or the reverse?

Let us know your preference when you reach out. We’ll try to place you where you’ll be most comfortable, and where there’s room.

What does it cost?

Group rates are lower than individual session rates. Exact pricing will be shared during your screening call, along with any insurance or superbill questions.

What if neither current group is the right fit for me?

Tell us what you’re looking for. We’re regularly evaluating new groups based on interest, and we’ll reach out when something fits.

Curious whether group is right for you?

Reach out and tell us a little about what you’re looking for. We’ll help you figure out if group, individual therapy, or both, makes the most sense.
