Looking for a book recommendation for couples? Read on below.
I find that books and workbooks are a great resource for a few reasons in therapy.
1) I learn more about a certain topic to better help clients.
2) Clients will be able to read for themselves applicable research and tips to improve themselves.
I plan to start posting every few months or so about books or workbooks that have helped me as a therapist or for clients to use on their own.
One of my favorite books to use with couples is The Five Love Languages
This book explores the 5 Love Languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

The book lets you learn about how you feel loved and how your partner feels loved as well. There’s a great analogy in the book of the need for love in certain ways is similar to a gas tank.
If we don’t receive the love in the way we need, we begin to run on fumes. Educating yourself and your partner on your love languages prevents this from occurring.
What is your top love language and what is your favorite way to receive it?
What about your partner, loved ones, or children?
Take the time to explore all the important relationships in your life.
